Top 6 Healthy Lemon Recipes
These healthy lemon recipes are so simple even kids can prepare them. I personally use lemon zest or lemon juice wherever I can. I even grow my own lemon tree on my balcony. It brings a feeling I’m closer to nature. But now, we’re talking about food and how to uplift our meals and drinks. Results? Better taste and healthier spirit/body at the same time. Here are some of my favorite recipes with the accent put on lemons.
Officially, lemon water should be prepared using warm water. Squeeze the juice of half lemon into a warm water and drink it on an empty stomach, most preferable in the morning. That’s it! You can always add a slice of ginger root or 1-2 mint leaves but this is optional. I drink my lemon water differently. It is all done in 30 seconds. I squeeze juice of half lemon in 1 l water, put the mixture in a glass bottle, I shake the bottle once or twice… and the 30 seconds are up. I immediately drink a glass or two and store the bottle in the fridge to cool a little bit for more refreshing taste. I usually drink 1-2 l of my version of lemon water a day and I have no side-effects to report. Remember, NO SUGAR, this is not lemonade.
Ginger-Lemon-Honey Mixture for Healthy Instant Tea
I put one peeled ginger root in a blender (tip: peal the ginger root with a teaspoon), I add one peeled lemon, and 1 cup of honey. You can put an unpeeled lemon if you like but make sure you wash it well. Remember that the zest is giving a bitter taste. Add honey and start blending. The mixture will look like yellow paste, allowing you to put it in a jar and store it in your fridge up to 3-4 weeks. Put half a teaspoon of your new instant tea in your cup and add hot water. Easy-peasy.
This is my favorite and it works while preparing fish or chicken. Squeeze juice of half lemon in a glass or small bowl. Add 3-4 tablespoons vegetable oil and be inventive with the spices you already got. I use pinches of salt, black pepper, rosemary, garlic powder… Mix it well and pour it over the meat. Massage it a little bit and let it rest for an hour. The meat is ready to get in the oven. If you are a grill person, make sure you brush the meat with the marinade using cooking brush every time you turn the meat while grilling.
Lemon Juice for Instant Healthy Pickle
Pour a mixture of lemon juice, vegetable/olive oil and chopped garlic over already baked vegetables like red & green peppers, carrots or zucchini. Mix it well and sprinkle with salt ,chopped and fresh parsley on top. Nice side dish. Try it on mushrooms as well. Don’t be afraid to experiment.
Healthy Salad Dressing
Mix juice of half lemon, add 2-3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon mustard and 1 or 2 cloves of garlic, 2 pinches of salt. Mix it well until the mustard resolves and just pour it over the salad. Mix the salad and the dressing with your hands. Bon appetit.
Drops of Lemon Juice in Soups
Add 1 or 2 tablespoons lemon juice to your vegetable or chicken soup and feel the difference. Healthy and tasty.
