A bunion is an enlargement of the joint at the base of your big toe and appears as a result of the misalignment of the bones of the big toe.

The bunion causes the ligaments and tendons around the big toe joint to stretch and the tissue, or the skin on that spot becomes inflamed and often very painful. The cartilage in the joint can break down over time which will eventually lead to arthritis.

The cause can usually be tight shoes, arthritis or an inherited structural defect. Bunions can also be developed on the joint of the little toe.

People with bunions often have difficulty to find the right shoes that will not cause them pain while wearing them. Most of them decide to do a surgery to remove it, but this can only be a temporary solution.

Here are 5 natural and homemade remedies for getting rid of bunions:

Apply grated soap on the bunions and start massaging them. The gentle soap massage will help you relive the pain and the inflammations that bunions cause. Afterwards, just wash the area and dry it out before you use the iodine.

Take the iodine and try to draw a web over the bunion with a small stick soaked in the povidone-iodine. The reason you should do that is because the skin on this place absorbs the iodine this way very easily.

Take a pair of socks and put them on once the iodine has completely dried out. Try doing it for a month to get rid of the pain and the inflammation.
